Lot 5483 POST WAR OF 1812 ERA BRITISH NAVAL BOARDING AX.

A fine British boarding ax from around the first quarter of the 19th century. The ax measures 25" overall and the head measures 7 1/2" bit to point. The bit extends for 2 5/8" and the langets on each side extend 6 1/2" down the haft. One side of the haft is marked " (crown) B O 3 / 23 " indicating ownership by the Crown and the ax's position in the rack of arms onboard ship. CONDITION: light expected wear overall with some pitting to the head and some wear to the haft. (02-26611/BF). NON-GUN. $800-1,200.
